Statement from Brigid Harrison, CD-2 Democratic Candidate
[Longport New Jersey, December 16, 2019] – New Jersey State Senate President Steve Sweeney; Joseph Andl, Burlington County Democratic Chairman; Senator Jim Beach, Camden County Democratic Chairman; Brendan Sciarra Cape May County Democratic Chairman; Steven Errickson, Cumberland County Democratic Chairman; Senator Fred Madden, Gloucester County Democratic Chairman; and Steve Caltabiano, Salem County Democratic Chairman announced this evening that they will endorse Brigid Callahan Harrison for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District.
The following is a statement from Brigid:
“Tonight, I am gratified that party leaders were willing to listen to me as I made my case as to why I am the best candidate for New Jersey’s second congressional district. For the Democratic Party to remain viable, citizens — not career politicians — must take the lead, and transparent conversations need to replace back room deals.
“By coming together, and taking this strong, early stand of support, it is clear after Jeff Van Drew’s bait and switch, a new, welcome breeze is blowing and that decision making will no longer be blinded by politics or a well-known name.
“This is a decisive moment in time for those of us in the 2nd District and while I am grateful for the support, there is a great deal of work ahead for this campaign. In order to successfully beat Jeff Van Drew, all Democrats must unite and move forward, and I look forward to earning trust and support of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents in November.”
