Hayden: Walls’ Ruling a Stake in the Government’s Case Against Menendez

Responding to the news today of the feds’ seeking to dismiss the corruption case against U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Joe Hayden, veteran defense attorney and legal expert for InsiderNJ, said the government had no choice.

“It was clear they did not have a provable case,” Hayden said. “Given the overwhelming number of jurors for acquittal and Judge Walls’ recent ruling dismissing the seven political contribution counts, a further trial would have been a waste of prosecutorial and justices resources.

“Judge walls’ decision was a stake in the heart of the government’s case,” the attorney added.
