HCDO Diehards Ready to back Romano for Mayor of Hoboken

Romano

All eyes are on Hudson County Freeholder Anthony “Stick” Romano tonight with the news, first reported by InsiderNJ, that Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer will not pursue reelection this year.

It remains to be seen where powerful state Senator Brian P. Stack goes with an endorsement. He had gotten behind Zimmer early, all but snuffing out the possibility of a bruising contest. But tonight it appears that Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, state Senator Nick Sacco, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis and West New York Mayor Felix Roque are all preparing to line up behind Romano.

“We have had a good relationship with Mayor Zimmer as well as Freeholder Romano, and we think Freeholder Romano would be a great mayor of Hoboken,” said Craig Guy, chief of staff to DeGise and a ground game staple of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO).

Romano tonight held a fundraiser for incumbent Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop (pictured above).
