Heard Throws a Fundraiser for Webber

Jay Webber is heading across district lines to bolster his campaign warchest.

The Republican congressional candidate in District 11 is scheduled to appear at a $500 per person fundraiser July 25 at the home of Craig Heard in Long Valley.

Heard, who also has a home in Roxbury, is a prominent political figure in the township.

He is a past president of the Roxbury Township Board of Education and a 2016 candidate for Congress in the 7th District. He lost to incumbent Leonard Lance in the Republican primary. Currently, Heard heads a committee that is exploring a possible merger of Roxbury and neighboring Mount Arlington.

Besides Heard, hosts for the fundraiser are Ron DeFilippis, the newly-elected chair of the Morris County Republican Committee, and two former state assemblymen, Dick Kamin and Guy Gregg.

While the four hosts may be high-powered Republican leaders in Morris County, none of them can vote for Webber this fall. All live in the 7th Congressional District, not the 11th.
