Brian Fitzherbert to Run in NJ Congressional District 2

South Jersey’s Harry Hurley reports that Brian Fitzherbert has announced his candidacy in Congressional District 2. Last year, Fitzherbert vied for the GOP nomination in a crowded primary, but was knocked off the ballot after rival Hirsh Singh challenged his petition signature.

Per South Jersey’s Harry Hurley, Brian Fitzherbert has announced his candidacy in NJ Congressional District 2. Last year, Fitzherbert vied for the GOP nomination in a crowded primary, but was knocked off the ballot after rival Hirsh Singh challenged his petition signatures.  The primary ultimately was won by Seth Grossman.  Then-Senator Jeff Van Drew, a Democrat, ultimately defeated Grossman.

Hurley speculates that CD2’s GOP primary could once again be crowded, with potential candidates including Grossman, David Richter (who’s formed an exploratory committee), John Zarych, and others.

Fitzherbert is the Chair of the Atlantic County Young Republicans.

  1. Don’t think it matters. Dr. Jeff will be tough to beat. We’ll see what happens down there in the legislative races, but Van Drew acts more Republican than most of the GOP.
