In Defense of Dignity: The New Jersey Coalition of Latino Pastors and Ministers Organizes Press Conference on Immigration Arrests in New Jersey

Insider NJ's Al Sullivan argues that Hudson County is in the midst of a political identity crisis, evidenced by the Democratic conflict over immigration detainees and the environment.
This Thursday, January 30th, at 10:00 AM, a press conference will take place at Better Life Ministry, located at 129 Linden Ave, Jersey City, NJ. The event aims to shed light on recent immigration enforcement actions in New Jersey, including concerning reports of arrests and detentions carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents without valid judicial warrants.

With a focus on human rights and social justice, this press conference serves as a crucial platform to analyze the challenges posed by current immigration policies. The organizers emphasize the urgent need to develop strategies and solutions to protect vulnerable communities, who are disproportionately affected by enforcement measures.

The event is organized by the New Jersey Coalition of Latino Pastors and Ministers, in collaboration with various advocacy organizations and key community stakeholders. Participants include religious leaders, community advocates, elected officials, nonprofit representatives, immigration attorneys, and business leaders. This collective effort aims to foster concrete strategies to ensure accountability and advocate for humane treatment of immigrants.

The message is clear: we cannot remain silent in the face of practices that perpetuate fear and suffering in our communities. This event seeks not only to denounce these actions but also to inspire action and change,” stated Reverend Bolívar Flores, Vice President of the New Jersey Coalition of Latino Pastors and Ministers.

Beyond being a space for denunciation, the conference aims to build practical solutions. Organizers encourage the community to unite in solidarity, raising their voices in both prayer and protest against practices that affect thousands of immigrant families.

The New Jersey Coalition of Latino Pastors and Ministers calls on all sectors of society to work together toward meaningful change. Now is the time to act with courage and compassion, raising our voices for those who often have no opportunity to be heard,” the organizers concluded.

This Thursday, the New Jersey community has the opportunity to demonstrate that solidarity and justice remain fundamental pillars in the fight for dignified and humane treatment of immigrants.
