After Capitol Hill Nightmare, Democratic State Committee Runs Ad Against Van Drew
Mobilized to D.C. with the National Guard in the aftermath of the Jan. 6th riots at the U.S. Capitol, New Jersey diehard – formerly of the office of U.S. Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-3) – Frank Luna offered the following on Facebook:
A recent nap I took alongside some buddies (I’m second from the left) apparently got some media attention. As Major Lee, a spokeswoman for the D.C. National Guard said, “Being present is the first step in ensuring the safety of our citizens and our Nation’s Capitol. Our security personnel work in shifts and rest when they can as others stand watch.” Major Lee continued, “this is not where they are lodging when off-duty.”

The FBI’s Case Against Retired Firefighter Robert Sanford
Check out 1:38 in. Look for fire extinguisher coming from the left side of the screen.
They do not mention Officer Brian Sicknick by name as the victim but here’s the relevant excerpt:
“The object appears to strike one officer, who was wearing a helmet, in the head. The object then ricochets and strikes another officer, who was not wearing a helmet, in the head. The object then ricochets a third time and strikes a third officer, wearing a helmet, in the head. Immediately after throwing the object, the Subject moves quickly in the opposite direction.”
There’s many charges listed including:
“Finally, there is probable cause to believe that SANFORD violated 18 U.S.C. 111(a)(1), which makes it a crime for anyone to forcibly assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate, or interfere with any United States law enforcement officer while that officer is engaged in the performance of their official duties.”

Un Uphill Trudge – to Say the Least – for Yoon in LD37
Intrigued by the prospect of an open Assembly seat in LD37, the allies of Fort Lee Councilman Paul Yoon may have some difficulty convincing fellow Democrats ahead of a convention that he should represent the party.
Unlike Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, who opted against backing the reelection of Republican Governor Chris Christie and suffered a ludicrous, scandalous attempt at repercussions with Bridegate, Yoon went along for the ride and backed Christie, who limped out of office with an approval rating of %16.
The councilman – a Florio Perrucci attorney – would be an especially audacious party choice for Democrats in light of the role retiring Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-37) played in exposing the scandal.

Smith and Van Drew Vote Against Second Impeachment of Trump
Ten Republican members of the House, including one of its highest-ranking leaders, joined Democrats in voting to impeach President Trump for inciting the deadly attack on the Capitol last week by a violent mob of his supporters.
Their ranks did not include New Jersey’s two Republican congressmen: U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-4) and U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-2).
The final vote was 232 to 197, as the 10 Republicans joined all 222 Democrats in voting in favor of the impeachment resolution.
Here are the Republicans who voted to impeach Mr. Trump:
Donald Trump was impeached for a second time Wednesday, just a week after he encouraged loyalists to “fight like hell” against election results and then a mob of supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. The House voted 232-197, with 10 Republicans joining Democrats to rebuke the president.

Epps Eyeballed as Potential Dem Line Replacement for Holley
“Not real,” snapped a source. “And if it is, he can’t win off the line.”
If it does indeed develop as sources insist it will, the name of Hillside Councilman Craig Epps (pictured) surfaced as a potential Holley challenger on the line with state Senator Joe Cryan (D-20).
Cryan and Holley don’t like each other.
A source told InsiderNJ that Union County Democratic Committee Chairman Nick Scutari hoped to repair the rift and bring Holley back but Cryan hardly warmed to the idea, especially irritated by the assemblyman’s cultivation of pandemic conspiracy theories, which he argues have endangered the people of the district.
