The one-time whippersnappers of the state’s up-and-comers have gone grey in the service of party, country, and self – and not necessarily in that order.

Soon the millennials will give way to Gen. Z, as they age into the corroded cocoons of a two-party duopoly that shows no signs – other than through the perpetuation of dynastic reign – of loosening its longtime grip on power.

But hopefully millennials – in the name of freshening the state’s political atmosphere – give us a governor or a senator before too long; or maybe two or three, before absorbing the next generation’s energy.

Maybe that person or people resides somewhere on the annual InsiderNJ Millennial list that follows.

The sprites of yesteryear have become the craggy veterans of the present era, and what they do next in terms of power projection intrigues.

Maybe someone here stands on the cusp of a governorship long ravenously guarded by older generations.

A little wiser with the passage of time, the vision tempered perhaps, battered maybe but young yet, at least compared to the aged charioteers in front of them, within find the leaders of today, yes – and tomorrow.
