InsiderNJ interview with Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle

Vainieri Huttle and Lassiter

Just so you know my bias, I support Valerie Huttle for NJ Senate in NJ’s 37th legislative district because of her peerless contribution to an AIDS-free generation. The Bergen-based 37th district includes Hackensack, Teaneck, Ft. Lee, and Englewood.

Valerie and I spent 20 minutes (or so) discussing her campaign, distinctions between rival (and longtime Assembly running mate) Gordon Johnson, and her leadership on core democratic principles like abortion rights and LGBT equality.

We also discussed Johnson’s response to recent harassment allegations.

Towards the end, Valerie reveals that after Johnson’s first running mates flamed out, the Bergen Democratic machine unsuccessfully courted Valerie’s running mates to leave her to run on the party line with Gordon. Its was an offer Valerie’s running mates Gervonn Romney Rice and Lauren Kohn Dayton refused on principle. (We reached out to Rice and Dayton for comment which is forthcoming.)

One response to “InsiderNJ interview with Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle”

  1. …………………..WELL DONE, JAY LASSITER
You brought out the best in Valerie Huttle. I felt that she was authentic and
    true to herself.
I do not reside in her legislative district and knew very little about her.
When I listened and watched the interview, I was impressed.
It is true while she represents her district, she, also, represents me as
a resident of New Jersey, and I care deeply about who represents me.
I felt that I would be proud to have her represent me.

PS…..No, Jay Lassiter, you did not look like a dork!
You could not look like a dork if you tried.
    At age 90, I know a dork when I see one…….BUT,
I am not too sure I am not one…….BUT,
at my age, it doesn’t matter, couldn’t care less.
