  1. They jumped all over Cahill’s kids when they got caught with pot and Kate Whitman with the beer can incident. Also, W’s daughters with underage drinking. The door swings both ways.

  2. i dont bother reading the star ledger anymore since anything the yellow rag says is useless blather with some corroive political agenda hidden behind it.

    • I hear you, Bruce! It’s hard to believe ANYTHING that we get from the media now, since everyone – even our media – seems moved by politics, greed, money, and whatever other else has nothing to do with fair, accurate, true reporting.

  3. I am a former Star-Ledger newspaper reporter who knows it is well within the media’s right to write/broadcast any story about a person ages 18 or older, who gets involved in the justice/legal systems. The story of a drunken, young person in a car crash might get just a blurb – if anything – in the media. So, I understand how our governor and family may feel slighted by the fact that Josh Murphy got so much ink in what initially appears to be just a run-of-the-mill story. But before we jump to that conclusion, that Josh was “targeted” for being the son of Gov. Murphy, remember that Josh himself has willingly become somewhat of a public official. Josh (I think commendably) joined his father during the governor’s public, political campaign. And Josh appeared with Gov. Murphy during our governor’s early, induction stage.

So I don’t think we can argue that Josh was/is treated unfairly. If Josh and/or Gov. Murphy do not want any negative publicity about Josh to appear in our media, they must choose not to have Josh join Gov. Murphy in public, political appearances. And is that a wise call, since it seems that Josh gets SOME nice benefit from being in the limelight with his father, our governor. But only the Murphy family can ultimately decide whether Josh should stay in the public, political lime light, or whether Josh should be one of many, private people.

  4. I was totally disgusted and chagrined by the unfair Star Ledger story concerning the son of the Governor.
There is a golden rule “FAMILIES ARE SACRED”.
The journalism practiced by this article in the Star Ledger is equal with the rag tabloids.
