InsiderNJ’s Who’s Up and Who’s Down: Week of March 25th

WHO’S UP

Richard Berdnik

In the end, the good solider sheriff of Passaic County prevailed over the flashy cowboy boot-wearing circus performer. The bland good government guy pinned the human high wire act.

John Currie

Okay, so under all the drama he actually does have Passaic County basically under control.

Andre Sayegh

The Mayor of Paterson told Police Director Jerry Speziale to wise up.

Patrick Kennedy

Opposed to the legalization of recreational marijuana, the former congressman could do an endzone dance at his Brigantine residence after Monday’s vote went belly up.

Jim Walden

In a word: intimidating. In the first hearing of his task force examining the use of tax incentives by the EDA in the Christie years, the former assistant district attorney for the Eastern District of New York looked like a no-nonsense tough guy from across the river.

Cory Booker

Even people who have heard him spin the MLK quote about the garment of destiny had to admit that the junior senator from New Jersey had a damn good night on Thursday at CNN’s town hall in Booker fire wall state South Carolina.

WHO’S DOWN

Jerry Speziale

It was like someone trying to replicate a Simon and Garfunkle reunion tour with half the act resistant and the other willing, except this was just one person. Finally, it was over.

Editor’s note: When it looked like Speziale was getting in the race for sheriff earlier this week and right on the heels of Monday’s pulled pot vote, we issued another, special edition of Who’s up and Who’s Down, which can be found here.

  1. “the good solider sheriff of Passaic County”, are you serious. The guy is protecting his undersheriff who cheated the pension board and was ordered to vacate his position, burring all the sexual harassment and official misconduct complaints. The same guy who is busy building his mansion in Toms Rivers using the county officers & resources. He is not a “good solider” but a corrupted politician protected by other corrupted politicians. The only reason Currie is protecting him is because he hired Currie’s daughter as an investigator. Shame on you
