They say that politics makes strange bedfellows and that proves particularly true in Newark, where former Mayor Sharpe James and former Booker political operative Jermaine James are both staunchly in the Murphy for Governor Camp.

The James’ aren’t related, to be clear.

But they have a bad history. Jermaine James worked for Booker on Booker’s doomed 2002 mayoral campaign against incumbent Mayor James.

In a recent meeting, Sharpe and Jermaine had a laugh over the go go bar theatrics of one especially noxious political collisison, chronicled in the movie Street Fight.

Both happy now in Murphy world, it’s all over, and past sins forgotten on both sides.
