Joe Sarno Unanimously Elected Scotch Plains Republican Committee Chairman
Scotch Plains Republican Committeeman and Jack Ciattarelli’s Union County Coordinator, Joe
Sarno was unanimously elected the new Chairman of the Scotch Plains Republican Committee last night. Joe has served as Tom Kean’s Union County Coordinator in 2020, is the current Chairman Emeritus of the Young Republican Federation of New Jersey, and is a former Councilman for the borough of Garwood. He has helped local candidates win in blue towns through Union County and has been on the ground throughout the state helping state legislators win tough races including organizing a national deployment in the 1st legislative District in 2019 to help NJ Republicans pick up seats statewide for the first time in 3 decades.
Locally in Scotch Plains, in 2020 Joe was responsible for launching a petition that garnered over 2,500 signatures supporting keeping the Columbus Monument on the Alan Augustine Green adjacent Township Hall, which was upheld by a 5-0 bipartisan vote on council.
“It is with these experiences where I believe we can have a 2-year plan to take back control of the township council and have it run by the Republican Party,” said Sarno. “We have seen the lack of leadership, gross nepotism, and non-transparent Democrats put our town back in neutral after Mayor Smith had our town moving for the first time in decades. By running strong campaigns in 2021 and in 2022 with candidates who embody the unique personality of Scotch Plains, we can win our majority again and begin putting Scotch Plains in the right direction under Republican leadership.”
Sarno added, “I am thankful that our former Chairwoman Paulette Coronato and the rest of the committee see the value that I bring to the Scotch Plains Republican Party and how under my leadership will lead this committee to a position of the majority once again.”
