A former assistant treasury secretary, Johnson ran an off the line campaign for governor in an attempt to appeal to progressives and independents. He cast his ballot in the New Jersey Democratic Primary accompanied by his wife, Nancy, and supporters, Johnson cast his vote at the Hillside Grammar School.
