Bergen County Democratic Committe Chairman Paul Juliano plans to hit the phones this afternoon in the aftermath of U.S. Senator Cory Booker’s bow-out of the 2020 presidential election.
New Jersey establishment Democrats – Juliano among them – were lined up behind Booker.
Now what?
“I recently heard the news; obviously, a Jersey guy, we stood with him,” the Bergen chairman told InsiderNJ. “I’m going to reach out to other leaders of the party so that we can establish consensus.”
There are directional mutterings all over the place.
Booker is not ready to issue a formal endorsement of anyone else.
Sources say former Vice President Joe Biden has the inside track for support from a significant portion of New Jersey’s Democratic Party establishment.
