Kean Declares Victory

Tom Kean says he has prevailed in the 7th District, and defeated incumbent U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-7).

Somerset was even for the two candidates.

But Union County numbers were not as good for Malinowski as needed. The numbers for Kean in Morris and Sussex put him over the top by a whisker, a source told InsiderNJ.

Kean declared victory based on the numbers trending in his direction, he told CBS News.

Editor’s Note:

An earlier version of this story made Malinowski the winner on the strength of his VBM edge in Hunterdon and particularly in Somerset, but the Union County slippage and Kean’s Sussex and Warren edge evened the deck and finally propelled Kean past his rival.

  1. Noooooooo! Kean Jr. is an empty shirt who ran on the good name of his wonderful father. He hid throughout the campaign and said nothing about what he believed in or what he hoped to do to help NJ or our country. He just spewed MAGA talking points. He is not even 1/20th the intelligent, compassionate, and thoughtful leader his father was. But not all votes have been counted yet, so I still hold out some hope. If things don’t flip again to Malinowski, I’ll just be heartbroken.
