Kennedy Backs Alexander for Congress in CD-2
Tim Alexander, Democratic Candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, announced this morning a key endorsement in the race, from mental health advocate and former candidate for Congress in the 2nd District, Amy Kennedy.
Statement by Amy Kennedy:
South Jersey deserves a representative who will focus on solving our community’s real issues, which is why I am proud to endorse Tim Alexander for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District.
As a young man, Tim experienced racial profiling when he was charged with a crime he did not commit, which put him on a lifelong path of fighting to fix broken systems.
Tim became a law enforcement officer and focused on correcting the relationship between police officers and the communities they serve. First from within the system, contributing to policy changes before retiring as a Captain of Detectives; then as a prosecutor. Since leaving the criminal justice system, Tim has continued to serve our community with a legal practice focused on civil rights. As a longtime South Jersey resident, Tim knows the hardships we face firsthand, and I know he will use his time in Congress to bring real solutions to the table.
Tim will be a strong advocate in Congress for community partnerships to create robust mental health support networks and improve how our emergency services interact with those in crisis.
Tim Alexander, Democratic Candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District
It has been humbling and amazing to see the support my campaign has gathered since launching last year. Amy Kennedy has been working for the people of South Jersey for years, first as an educator then as an advocate and champion for the vital issues of education, mental health, and their intersection. Beyond that, she knows firsthand what it takes to mount a campaign in this district, which is why I am so proud to have her endorsement in my own campaign.
Amy’s help, and that of all our supporters, will go a long way towards our goal of winning this race and bringing South Jersey the voice we need in Congress. But there is still much work to be done. I promise that I will never shy away from the hard, necessary work, whether it is in this campaign or in D.C. as your Congressman.
Who cares what Amy Kennedy thinks about the race subsequent to the one she lost?
