Kim Named to Key Committees to Lower Costs, Advance Innovation, and Bolster National Security

Today, Senator Andy Kim was named to serve on the following committees during the 119th Congress: Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP); and Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

“These committees will allow me to get to work right away on many of the most pressing issues I’ve been hearing about from New Jersey families,” said Senator Kim. “From building more housing that people can afford to lowering healthcare costs to bringing the high-tech jobs of the future to our state, all while strengthening the national security of our nation, I promise to put politics aside and work hard to deliver real results.”

The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee has wide-ranging jurisdiction, including next-generation technology research and development, highway safety, and marine fisheries and transportation. The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs’ jurisdiction includes urban development and mass transit, public and private housing (including veterans housing), export controls, and foreign trade promotion. The Senate HELP Committee’s jurisdiction includes most of the agencies of the Department of Health and Human Services, preparing America’s workforce to succeed for the rest of the 21st Century, and ensuring labor laws put working people first. Finally, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs’ jurisdiction includes oversight over all executive branch operations and the Department of Homeland Security including immigration and cybersecurity, as well as government efficiency, effectiveness, and reform.
