On the same afternoon that a senate panel voted to move the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the full senate floor and amid cries from Democrats denouncing comments he made about the allegations of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7) this afternoon issued a statement.

“Dr. Ford’s testimony yesterday was credible and believable,” said Lance. “But I also found Judge Kavanaugh to be credible in his own defense. I believe an expeditious FBI investigation can be done before a roll call vote by the U.S. Senate. It’s in the best interest of the Nation that a full and thorough examination by federal law enforcement of these serious charges against Judge Kavanaugh occurs.”

Earlier this week, the campaign of Democratic challenger Tom Malinowski pounced on Lance, sharing his comments in a digital ad.
