Lawrence Councilman and Former Mayor Powers Jumps into Mercer Freeholder Tilt

Lawrence Township Councilman and former Mayor Mike Powers wants that vacant Mercer County Freeholder seat, and said s much in a letter to Democratic committee people.

A graduate of Lawrence High School, Powers received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Emory University in Atlanta and his law degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. After six years as the head of the Legal Department of PharmaNet, an international drug development company, Powers returned to private practice in 2010 as a Senior Attorney with the national law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney in their Princeton office, leaving the firm in 2016.

In November of 2003 he was elected to a four year term on the Lawrence Township Council. In 2006 he served as Mayor of Lawrence Township. In November of 2007 he was re-elected to a second term on the Lawrence Township Council. In 2010, he was unanimously elected by his Council peers to serve a second term as Mayor.
