LD39 Dems Elbow into GOP Family Spat, Denounce Hermansen

Legislative District 39 candidates Linda Schwager, Jannie Chung and Annie Hausmann released a joint statement today in response to what they idenfied as sexist comments made by Mahwah Councilman and former Bergen County Freeholder Robert Hermansen, as reported by InsiderNJ.

“Attacking a woman’s appearance is completely out of bounds and would be a fireable offense in any professional office setting today. At the very least, Councilman Hermansen owes Mrs. Yudin an apology for his offensive, sexist comments,” said the Democrats, who are running against state Senator Gerald Cardinale (R-39), Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (R-39) and Assemblyman Robert Auth (R-39).

“It would be disturbing if other elected officials were to excuse his conduct. Mahwah lies in the 39th District and it is imperative that Senator Gerald Cardinale and Assembly members Robert Auth and Holly Schepisi show leadership on this matter,” they added. “They must denounce these hateful attacks rather than remain silent like they did on multiple occasions, after their fellow member of the Legislature, Assemblyman Parker Space, crudely disparaged his opponent and posed with the Confederate flag, a symbol of hatred and bigotry.”
