Libertarian Sabrin Goes After Menendez Following Senator’s ‘Lover Not a Warrior’ Remark

Running for U.S. Senate on a Libertarian ticket, Ramapo College Professor Murray Sabrin today issued a stinging rebuke of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), derisively referring to the senator’s Monday observation about himself in Hackensack that he is a “lover not a warrior.”

“His actions over the years support his assertion,” Sabrin said. “He loves the lifestyle of the rich and famous by frolicking in the Dominican Republic and other overseas locations courtesy of the largesse of convicted Florida physician Dr. Salomon Melgen, who defrauded U.S. taxpayers to the tune of $100 million.”

A jury last year reached a hung verdict in the case of Menendez’s corruption trial.

But Sabrin, who has run statewide in the past for both senate and governor and come up short, stayed on the theme of Menendez’s judgement and priorities revealed by the case.

“Sen. Menendez has enjoyed his lavish lifestyle that only the people of New Jersey wish they could experience, because he used his office to help a ‘friend’ who had ongoing disputes with Medicare,” he said. “Instead of working for Peace, Liberty and Prosperity, Senator Menendez has supported a belligerent foreign policy, especially against Cuba, and trickle down welfarism. Sen. Menendez epitomizes what is wrong in Washington DC.  He is an unapologetic supporter of the welfare-warfare state—the bipartisan policy that is responsible for the $20 trillion national debt and up to $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities as well as the stationing of tens of thousands of U.S. troops around the globe.”
