In Linden, Mayor Armstead Stands up for Ukraine
The City of Linden is taking a stand in solidarity with Ukraine, announced Mayor Derek Armstead.
On Saturday, March 5th at 1 pm, the City is planning a special Ukrainian flag raising ceremony in front of Linden City Hall to show support for the Ukrainian people in the face of Vladimir Putin’s invasion.
“We encourage members of the public and residents of Linden to attend the ceremony and voice
their concerns,” said the mayor. “Linden residents and the rest of the world should be concerned about President Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
The mayor added, “Our democracy, global security, and economy are all at stake. We have seen this type of behavior in the past, naked, unprovoked aggression. Our neutrality only favors the aggressor, although I am in support of sanctions unfortunately, the financial sanctions are only half measures. The fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO should not have prevented the United States from providing the necessary military support to stop Putin.”
Sunday February 27th, Linden City Hall was lit blue and yellow, as a show of solidarity for the people of Ukraine.
“I, along with my colleagues on city council and the Linden community condemn the unconscionable violence being perpetrated against the people of Ukraine. This senseless war is a breach of international and humanitarian law that the world must stand up against,” said Mayor Armstead.
I appreciate for expressing solidarity with my neighbor Kiev.
I understand their situation well because my country went through a similar hardship in 2008.
Thank you for your support! We have to
stay with our neighbors-Ukŕainian…
