Lonegan Dive Bombs Murphy on ‘Moral Authority’
In the aftermath of the Democrats’ state conference in Atlantic City, Republican CD5 candidate Steve Lonegan honed in on Democrat Phil Murphy’s lament over Republicans’ inability to muster any moral outrage in the face of Confederate Flag-brandishing soldiers in their ranks and other apparent social transgressions.
The pro-life, movement conservative Lonegan said, “Let me get this straight. Phil Murphy rails against ‘collapse of moral authority.’ This is coming from a guy who supports abortion up to and including the day of delivery?”
But the object of Murphy’s ire, Republican gubernatorial candidate Kim Guadagno, also supports a woman’s right to choose, InsiderNJ noted to Lonegan.
“Yes, Kim is pro-choice, but she didn’t rail against” the collapse of moral authority as Murphy did,” said Lonegan.
As for what he thought of Assemblyman Parker Space (R-24) posing on Facebook with the Confederate Flag, Lonegan said, “Parker Space is a man of character and integrity and a great guy. The Democrat Party has become the uptight judgmental party.”
Lonegan is challenging for the Republican nomination next year to go up against incumbent U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5).
