Long Branch Mayor backs LD-11 Dems

Houghtaling

Long Branch Mayor Adam Schenider, the seven term mayor of Long Branch who has a history of supporting Republican candidates, is changing course this year by supporting State Senate candidate Vin Gopal and incumbent Assemblymembers Eric Houghtaling (pictured) and Joann Downey.

Schneider publicly endorsed Chris Christie and Jen Beck’s respective re-elections in 2013 along with then Assemblymembers Caroline Casagrande and Mary Pat Angelini in 2015. Houghtaling and Downey got over 61% of the vote in Long Branch in 2015, which helped to narrowly oust Casagrande and Angelini.
Schneider made the announcement at Meet and Greet with Long Branch residents last week at the Long Branch VFW that he will vote for and support Gopal, Houghtaling and Downey anyway he can.
