Mapp Grieves for Green

Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp and Assemblyman Jerry Green (D-22) fought numerous local political wars, but today was not one of those occasions.

“This is the time to show respect to the family and to his memory for all the work he has done in serving the City of Plainfield, the County of Union, and the State of New Jersey with distinction,” Mapp told InsiderNJ, referring to Assemblyman Green, who died yesterday.

“This is the time to show him the respect he deserves,” the mayor said.

Sources for months have identified Mapp as the likely successor to Assemblyman Green, but the mayor would not comment on that today as he grieves for his rival and  fellow party member.
