Mayor Dahlia Vertreese of Hillside Announces Re-Election Campaign

Hillside NJ Mayor Dahlia Vertreese lost her committee seat to Marjorie Hargrave, a candidate championed by local Democratic Party Chair Anthony Salters.

Today, Dahlia Vertreese announced her re-election campaign for Mayor of Hillside. Mayor Vertreese was first elected Mayor in 2017. In Vertreese’s first term she fought to stabilize taxes and increase services to residents of Hillside.

In Mayor Vertreese’s first term her administration successfully attained an A + bond rating, negotiated new contracts for both the police and fire departments, and also obtaining much needed equipment for public works. Mayor Vertreese instituted a number of novel community-based activities engaging youth, families and seniors.

“In my first 4 years we have focused on getting Hillside back on the right track,” Mayor Vertreese stated in her announcement. “We have faced challenges, especially over the last year, but we have come together as a community and moved forward. Hillside has been progressive with battling COVID-19, creating a Mask-up campaign, doing weekly food distributions, and working with our community to provide support during these difficult times.

“I’m excited for all that is ahead for us as a Township.” Vertreese said, “I am running now for the vision of Hillside’s future. Our administration is excited to work with our community to continue to improve our services while renovating our parks, constructing a new library with a job training component and renovating the Hillside pool and adding a new spray park.”
