McCoy Running for Mercer County Freeholder Seat
Tennille McCoy of Hamilton is running for Mercer County Freeholder.
The Assistant Commissioner of Human Capital Strategies and Senior Project Management Lead for Public Apprenticeships in the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, McCoy is a former candidate for the Hamilton Town Council.
She is going after the seat vacated this summer by Assemblyman Tony Verrelli (D-15).
Verrelli assumed the Assembly seat vacated by Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora.
The Mercer Dems’ convention will take place on Wednesday, September 5th at 6:30 p.m., at Stone Terrace in Hamilton.
“My setting has always been Mercer County and my roots are buried deep,” McCoy, daughter of the late Samuel McCoy, a steelworker and famed North Trenton Little League coach, said in a letter to fellow party members. “In 2010, I was elected as a district committeewoman in Hamilton, where I focused on energizing young professionals in the political process. Whether it comes to my work as an advocate for women and children on non-profits like Mercer County Dress for Success, Fundraising Chair for CASA Mercer, or as a Board Member of Mercer County Technical Schools, my daily life affects the quality of life of the people in the county that I call home.
“What do I hope to accomplish, if elected to the Mercer County Board of Freeholders? My passion and life experience on education, healthy living, preservation of open spaces [while championing for the expansion of outdoor recreational opportunities] and social justice has lead me to pursue this nomination,” she added. “Issues like investing more in public safety management, economic development, closing talent gaps while working to keep our tax burden low are at the forefront of my focus. If I am fortunate enough to win this nomination, you have my commitment that I will collaborate with partners statewide to identify strategies, tools, and resources to continuously propel Mercer County in the direction of upward mobility.”
