Progressive activist Analilia Mejia this morning offered her thoughts on U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ (D-VT) entrance into the 2020 race for the presidency.

“I cannot express how excited I am about this!” Mejia wrote on Facebook.

“Bernie Sanders embraces a platform that challenges the idea that people are poor and oppressed – just because and there’s nothing we can do about it,” she added. “A few years ago his support for a $15 Minimum Wage, Medicare for all and Universal College education was in the realm of the impossible. Look around folks. What have we achieved in NJ? Where is the Democratic Party on many of his ideas now? I’m excited to support his candidacy. I’m excited to help carry him through the finish line and I cannot wait for 2020!”

Mejia is the executive director of New Jersey Working Families Alliance. While her endorsement of Sanders is her own and not the organization’s, Working Families did back Sanders for president in 2016.
