Melham Wins Reelection in Belleville

Melham

Belleville Mayor Michael Melham has won reelection to a second term.

Melham defeated Councilman Steve Rovell.

Unofficially, the mayor and his team effected a clean sweep.

“We’re very happy,” Melham told InsiderNJ. “We ran on a record of accomplishment and we didn’t get involved in the noise of the nasty slanderous lies. We mailed to a larger universe.”

Four years ago, Melham won with 1,800 votes.

Tonight, with four districts still uncounted, he tallied 2,500 votes.

“There has never in the history of Belleville been a mayor elected and reelected with as large a percentage as I have,” Melham said.
