Mike or Mikie: Bloomfield Mayor Venezia Sizes Up a CD11 Run, Says Source

Mike Venezia, the mayor of Bloomfield, is taking a “hard look” at the 11th Congressional District in the aftermath of the Nov. 7th general election and a wobbly-looking incumbent U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11).

Venezia is expected to take a couple of weeks to drill into the 11th and make a holiday time assessment of a shot.

At present, Navy helicopter pilot Mikie Sherrill, Passaic County Freeholder John Bartlett and counselor Tamara Harris are dueling for the command position in a 2018 Democratic Primary. Woodland Park Mayor Keith Kazmark had felt out a potential run before dropping out in the fall and backing Sherrill.

First elected to a three-year term in 2013 and a proven vote-getter in his home town, Venezia doesn’t have to run again locally until 2019.
