Republican Councilman Matt Moench tonight prevailed in his bid to be the mayor of Bridewater.

Moench unofficially defeated Democrat Jeffrey Brookner in the sprawling Somerset County town.

As of 8:30 p.m., the Republican was up by 1,800 votes with two districts and VBMs outstanding, and Moench said the margin was too much for his opponent to overcome.
