Morris’ Next (Interim) County Prosecutor

Morris

Robert Carroll, a veteran attorney now working as the top lawyer for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, is in line to be named interim Morris County prosecutor.

The job will become vacant when Prosecutor Fredric Knapp retires next month; his last day is scheduled to be Oct. 13. Knapp’s term expired more than a year ago, but as is customary, he has remained as a holdover. Knapp was named to the job by then-Republican Governor Chris Christie.

Sources on both sides of the aisle have identified Carroll as Knapp’s interim replacement.

Carroll previously worked at the Florham Park law firm of Saiber LLC. before joining the Turnpike Authority. He was unable to immediately comment on his likely appointment; his office said he is on vacation this week.

According to his background available online, Carroll has extensive law enforcement experience. He has held various positions with the state Attorney General’s Office in addition to having worked in the offices of the Essex and Sussex county prosecutor.
