Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty Announces Re-Election Plans 

Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty survived a heart attack and is resting comfortably at Morristown Hospital.

Mayor Tim Dougherty, along with at-Large Council President Nathan Umbriac, Councilwoman Toshiba Foster and Councilman David Silva, today announced plans to run for re-election in 2025.

The Dougherty Team is seeking to continue the success of the administration’s last four years and enhance their vision of keeping “Morristown Moving Forward.”

“Morristown is a special place, and I am mindful every day that I have a major responsibility to ensure that Morristown continues to be the ideal town to live, to work and to raise a family, as well as to feel safe and proud to call it home,” said Mayor Dougherty.

The Dougherty team is seeking to build on the administration’s stellar track record of success for the taxpayers and residents of Morristown.

Under Mayor Dougherty’s leadership, Morristown continues to see significant commercial development and relocations that has led to record level permit revenue for the town. Major commercial tenants continue to move to Morristown including two Fortune 500 companies within the last several years (Sanofi & KPMG).

With the addition of KPMG, Morristown is now home to two of the four “Big 4” accounting/auditing firms as they join Deloitte. This is in addition to Morristown’s vibrant downtown that boasts of some of the best restaurants, entertainment, and shopping in all of Morris County.

The increased revenue and investments in Morristown have led to significant improvements in public infrastructure and program upgrades including roads, drainage and parks adding to town safety initiatives and quality of life improvements.

The Dougherty Team has prioritized public safety with the hiring of additional police officers including several bilingual recruits, and with the successful

Morristown Police Community Engagement Unit that increased communication and collaboration with all our residents, making Morristown a safer place for residents and guests alike.

“We have successfully rebounded from the COVID pandemic thanks to strong willed community efforts and despite everyday challenges, Morristown continues to thrive,” said Mayor Dougherty, adding, “I believe The Dougherty Team leadership offers the best opportunity to ensure that our best days are ahead of us.”
