Murphy Goes after Kean in the Aftermath of Senate Leader’s Amazon and NJ Transit Comments

NEWARK – Governor Phil Murphy this morning objected to Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean’s criticism of his tax policy as a deterrent to Amazon in Newark and quibbled with Kean on the facts before jabbing at the Republican leader.

“We’re still in talks [with Amazon],” said Murphy, which Mayor Ras Baraka confirmed.

“Taxes have never come up,” the governor added.

Then he went after Kean.

“He’s been talking about NJ Transit a lot lately, God bless him,” said the governor. “I appreciate it. I’d like to know where he was the past eight years when his friend Chris Christie was gutting it. We’re fixing the damn thing. They broke it; we’re fixing it.”
