Murphy Introduces a Resolution Condemning Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Assemblywoman Carol Murphy: "This bill is to strictly give a borrowing option to the administration."

On Monday morning, Seventh District State Assemblywoman Carol Murphy (D-Mount Laurel) introduced a resolution, [AR162], condemning Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his unjust treatment of documented migrants when he sent 50 asylum seekers to Martha’s Vineyard via airplane in clear violation of Federal Law. This treatment of migrants emulates human trafficking and this movement of human beings for political gain is inhuman and should be condemned by New Jersey’s General Assembly.

Assemblywoman Carol Murphy has worked extensively on several bills to address the growing problem of human trafficking in New Jersey.  “The actions taken by Governor DeSantis violates federal law, our collective American spirt, morality and even reaches the criminality of human trafficking as defined by The Department of Homeland Security.  The politically-motivated exploitation of these individuals, who are already facing the most dire of circumstances, should never be tolerated and the despicable actions of Governor DeSantis are shamefully unpatriotic to the core,” said Assemblywoman Carol Murphy.

“Human trafficking, in any form, whether done by those traditionally identified as traffickers or those in the government is a heinous act and should never be glorified,” continued Assemblywoman Carol Murphy. “This act mirrors what occurs daily to victims of human trafficking throughout our state and country, and it must come to an immediate end.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) defines human trafficking or trafficking in persons as the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor and identifies the tactics of manipulation, and specifically “using false promises of well-paying jobs” to lure victims into human trafficking; and Governor DeSantis used these exact tactics to prey on these asylees all in a political facade.  These migrants were lured with false promises of a better life in Boston or Washington, DC.  Instead, they were transported to an island 90 miles from Boston with none of the resources promised to them.

If you are a victim of human trafficking or suspect an individual to be, please call the NJ Human Trafficking Hotline at (856) 363- 6548 or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1(888) 373-7888.

  1. NJ dumbocrats need to concern themselves with ridding NJ of illegal aliens. DeSantis is exactly what NJ needs.

We are loaded with illegal aliens who are granted just about every government hand out possible. Condemn DeSantis all you want. Its NJ liberals who should be condemned.

  2. It’s funny to see how everyone in the comments are angry that he is getting condemned he deserved it this man cannot be doing stuff like this without the consequences of his actions
