National Organization for Women of New Jersey Political Action Committee announces 2020 endorsements LD-25 and Federal races

Kennedy

National Organization for Women of New Jersey’s Political Action Committee (NOW NJ PAC) is endorsing Rupande Mehta for election to the New Jersey Senate and Darcy Draeger to the General Assembly in the upcoming special election in Legislative District 25. NOW NJ PAC is committed to electing feminist candidates at all levels of our government who will work to defend our values, fight to correct the inequalities inherent in our systems and erase the inequities that are multiplied by the intersection of race and gender.

“The passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg reminds us of the fragile balance that women’s rights hang in,” said Anjali Mehrotra, Chair of the NOW NJ PAC. ”At the state level we need to elect progressive legislators who are committed to safeguarding reproductive rights and expanding access to care. We are confident that Ms. Mehta and Ms. Draeger will act as our partners on an aggressive legislative agenda that includes menstrual equity and removal of barriers and stigma for non-gender conforming persons and other marginalized communities.”

In addition, for the upcoming November election, we are pleased to announce that based on our recommendations, National NOW PAC has endorsed the following candidates in New Jersey’s federal races.

For the US Senate

Senator Cory Booker*

For the House of Representatives

Amy Kennedy—NJ02

Rep. Mikie Sherrill*—NJ11

The NOW NJ PAC consists of representatives from all our chapters throughout the state along with members of the New Jersey NOW state board. NOW’s core missions are as follows – achieving constitutional equality, ending violence against women, supporting LBGTQ+ rights and fighting for reproductive rights and justice, economic justice and racial justice.
