Jersey, tonight reminded the country of a specifically disgraceful action of Donald Trump, the GOP nominee for president.

Craig Sicknick stood before the delegates of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago with his mother, Gladys.

“My brother was a U.S. Capitol Police Officer, Brian Sicknick, a hero who died after defending our country on Jan. 6th,” said Craig Sicknick.

Applause resounded through the auditorium as a picture of the late Officer Sicknick appeared onscreen.

Craig Sicknick then condemned the actions of Trump on that fateful day, Jan. 6th, 2021.

“He incited the crowd while my brother and his fellow officers were putting their lives at risk,” said Craig Sicknick. “We need a real leader, not an autocrat who is stuck in the past.

“Brian, we miss you every day,” he added.

On the day in question, Trump – angered by his own 2020 loss to Joe Biden of the presidential election – tried to get his MAGA followers to short-circuit the democratic process by disrupting Vice President Mike Pence’s ratification of the results.

Chaos ensued as those followers – many of them later convicted – broke in and desecrated the United States Capitol.

Brian Sicknick in 2023 received a posthumous Presidential Citizens Metal awarded by President Biden.

Gladys and Charles Sicknick accepted the award from the President in a ceremony at the White House on the two-year anniversary of the Jan. 6th 2021 mob insurrection at the United States Capitol where Mr. Sicknick lost his life defending the democratic process.

The youngest of three sons, Mr. Sicknick grew up in South River and attended East Brunswick Technical High School. Prior to becoming a Capitol Police Office, he served in the New Jersey Air National Guard and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant after serving in Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom.

On Jan. 6th, 2021, Mr. Sicknick was part of a “police line guarding the perimeter of the U.S. Capitol on the day that pro-Trump mobs attempted to stop lawmakers from certifying President Biden’s Electoral College victory.

“Sicknick was attacked with chemical spray during the confrontation and collapsed later that evening. He suffered from two strokes and died the next day. Sicknick was 42.”

The New Jersey native is interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

Trump is running for president in part to avoid standing trial for what the world watched him do – and not do – on Jan. 6th, 2021.

  1. Thank you for this article, Mr. Pizarro. You know the score, and the Majority of the American People know it too. Trump’s actions to attempt to unlawfully stay in power after he lost that election have shown all who choose to see clearly, that he was a clear and present danger to America then, and would be much more dangerous to our Country if he gets in again. America simply must be guided by It’s Better Angels when it votes in November. It Must choose the rule of law, over the caprice of the narcissist who won the electoral college 8 years ago and deceived millions of good Americans.
