No Primary In Prospect Park

In Prospect Park, there won’t be a Democratic primary after all.
There had been rumblings of a potential contested primary in the tiny Paterson burb against incumbent Mayor Mohammed Khairullah.
It didn’t materialize.
Khairullah, who raised $10k at a packed kick-off event in late February, will run unopposed (along with a council slate that includes Council President Esther Perez) but face a Republican challenge in the general election.
Running against Khairullah is Dr. Maria Emma Anderson, a 30-year resident andBoard of Education trustee who holds a doctorate in special education. Prospect Park GOP Leader Tom Magura believes the town is ripe for a Republican victory in November, citing council resignations over the past few years and high taxes.
