Norcross: ‘This Chaos has Done Nothing to Lower Costs for Families’
Today, U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1) released a statement on the chaotic actions of President Trump and Elon Musk, as well as the federal funding freeze.
“Over the past two weeks, President Trump and Elon Musk have been wreaking havoc on the vital federal resources our government provides hardworking families and plunging our economy into uncertainty.
“Trump and Musk are freezing funding that could prevent Americans from accessing healthcare, food, housing, and childcare services. They are taking over the Treasury Department’s payment system, which is responsible for delivering trillions in Social Security payments, Medicare benefits, and more to Americans everywhere.
“They are pardoning convicted felons who assaulted police officers on January 6th, making our communities less safe. They are firing dedicated FBI agents and civil servants who work to ensure families receive these essential resources, and they are doing so with complete disregard for the impact it will have on people’s lives. As a result of these actions, federal workers and agencies have been in a state of chaos and confusion.
“Now the Trump Administration and their associates are enacting irresponsible economic policies that will increase prices for hardworking families and dismantle worker protections. They are acting with a total disregard for the checks and balances that our founding fathers had put in place to protect against tyranny.
“Let’s be clear that this chaos has done nothing to lower costs for families and has only made it more difficult for Americans struggling to make ends meet. Rest assured that my team and I are diligently working to combat this funding freeze, ensure New Jerseyans receive the vital resources they deserve, and take steps to actually make everyday costs more affordable.”
Sez the big money, really big money, personality
“I have made clear to House Republican leadership that any effort to steal taxpayer money from the American people, end Medicaid as we know it or defund programs important to everyday Americans, as contemplated by the illegal White House Office of Management and Budget order, must be choked off in the upcoming government spending bill, if not sooner,” said Jeffries.
