Eddie Osborne, the veteran at-large councilman from Newark, picked up petitions to run for reelection.

He’s not on Mayor Ras Baraka’s ticket anymore but he wants his seat back, said a source familiar with Osborne’s intentions.

Multiple people are also eyeballing the at-large seat vacated last year by Mildred Crump and filled by her son, sitting Councilman Larry Crump.

In place of Osborne as one of his at-large candidates, Baraka selected Louise Rountree, known citywide for her extensive community activities.

A member of the Laborers’ Union, Osborne presumably will have their organizational heft on his side.
