As expected, Marques-Aquil Lewis won the chairmanship of the Newark Schools Advisory Board tonight, but in a twist, Board Member Octavio “Tave” Padilla out-dueled Board Member Kim Gaddy to land the vice chairmanship of the board.

A longtime business owner who cut his teeth in politics as an acolyte of North Ward Democratic leader Steve Adubato, Sr., Padilla has also worked as an aide to Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3).
