Parmenter Announces Candidacy for Atlantic County Surrogate

Galloway Township Board of Education member Dr. Sherri Parmenter today announced her candidacy for Atlantic County Surrogate, pledging to bring transparency and dedication to a critical yet often overlooked office.

“Many in our community aren’t fully aware of the essential services provided by the Surrogate’s Office during life’s most challenging times,” said Parmenter. “My campaign is committed to educating the public on its vital role and ensuring that Atlantic County benefits from a leader who combines legal expertise with a deep commitment to our community.”

Currently serving her third term on the Galloway Township Board of Education, Parmenter has overseen significant projects including the construction of a new facilities building, extensive renovations at Arthur Rann Elementary School, IT upgrades across all the schools, and enhanced security measures to ensure student safety.

“Over the past eight years, my focus has been on delivering quality education and safe environments for our children, without getting sidetracked by divisive political debates,” Parmenter stated. “I will bring that same thoughtful, bipartisan approach to the Surrogate’s Office, ensuring that our residents receive fair and efficient service.”

Parmenter holds a J.D. from Atlanta Law School, has dedicated her career to teaching as a K-8 educator and adjunct college professor, and earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Rowan University, along with a master’s degree from Stockton University. Additionally, her longtime service on the Atlantic County Juvenile Conference Committee and leadership on the Atlantic County Mental Health Advisory Board demonstrate her commitment to public service.

Parmenter will seek the Democratic nomination for Surrogate at the 50th Annual Atlantic County Democratic Convention on Sunday, March 2.
