In Passaic, All’s Well that Ends (at Least for Now, Ahead of Nov. 5th) Well

Currie, left, with Pascrell.

A day after they helmed a Democratic State Committee conference in Atlantic City, Democratic State Party Chairman John Currie and Governor Phil Murphy kept the show going on Saturday with a meet and greet in Passaic in support of the countywide ticket.

Not on the ticket this year, Freeholder Assad Akhter put together the event, and welcomed over 300 people his and his wife’s home in the Eastside Park neighborhood of Paterson.

It was a good crowd. Most of the Freeholder Board and Paterson City Council were there – minus Councilman Mike Jackson.

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9), who had also been at Harrah’s on Friday, came to support the county ticket – and he and the chairman stood together. They haven’t been on the best of terms lately, the consequence of the freeholders giving his son the heave ho as county counsel. But they managed to grin through the woe on their way to a countywide election.
