Passaic Dems Pick a Sheriff’s Candidate

Today, Passaic County Democratic Chairman John Currie announced the unified slate of candidates under the banner of the Passaic County Democratic Organization for the upcoming elections, as selected by the Democratic Municipal Chairpersons of the 16 municipalities in the county from a broad field of qualified applicants. Leading the local county ticket as the Democratic nominee for Passaic County Sheriff is Thomas Adamo, a veteran law enforcement officer dedicated to serving and protecting the Passaic County community.

In a statement, Chairman Currie expressed his unwavering support for Thomas Adamo and the entire slate of candidates, emphasizing their commitment to upholding Democratic values and advancing the interests of Passaic County residents. “Chief Adamo embodies the integrity, leadership, and dedication to public service that defines the Passaic County Democratic Committee. As our nominee for Sheriff, he brings decades of experience and a proven track record of excellence in law enforcement. We are confident in his ability to lead Passaic County forward along with our county commissioners.”

Adamo brings over 28 years of law enforcement experience and a deep-rooted commitment to his community. Born and raised in Paterson, he has dedicated his career to ensuring the safety and well-being of Passaic County residents. From his humble beginnings as a Corrections Officer to his current role as Chief of the Law Enforcement Division, Adamo has demonstrated integrity, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to crime prevention. As Sheriff, he pledges to prioritize the work he was doing alongside former Sheriff Rich Berdnik with regard to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and accountability while fostering trust between law enforcement and the community.

Chairman Currie also addressed Jerry Speziale’s recent entry into the race, emphasizing the importance of standing against candidates who seek to undermine the principles of the Democratic Party. “Jerry Speziale’s history of political opportunism and betrayal is well-documented. He has shown a disregard for our party’s values and the democratic process itself. We cannot allow his divisive agenda to gain traction in Passaic County.”

Chairman Currie urged supporters to rally behind the unified Democratic slate and reject Jerry Speziale’s divisive politics. “Together, we will defend the integrity of our party and ensure that Passaic County continues the progress in improving the quality of life for all of our residents and families. Let us stand united in support of Thomas and our Democratic candidates.”

Adamo will join the Passaic Democratic Team of candidates for County Commissioner:

  • Cassandra “Sandi” Lazzara from Little Falls
  • John Bartlett from Wayne
  • Rodney De Vore from Paterson

Chairman Currie expressed his continuing support for the slate of Commissioner candidates, stating, “Cassandra “Sandi” Lazzara, John Bartlett, and Rodney De Vore embody what it means to serve in Passaic County. Each brings unique skills and a commitment to enhancing the well-being of our residents and families. We are confident in their ability to lead with integrity and are proud of the work they do and the services they provide.”

Sandi Lazzara is known for her advocacy in human services and economic development, demonstrating a commitment to serving the county’s most vulnerable. John Bartlett has been recognized for contributing to regional infrastructure improvements and accessibility to social services. Rodney De Vore emerges as a dedicated community leader committed to preserving and advancing the county’s interests through his extensive work in education and community service.

“This talented group of leaders will represent Passaic County well,” Currie added. “Their collective experience and vision will ensure that Passaic County continues to thrive. We encourage all residents to support them in the upcoming elections.”

These county candidates will campaign alongside other Passaic County Democratic Committee-endorsed candidates in this year’s primary: Tammy Murphy, Congressman Bill Pascrell, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill, and Congressman Josh Gottheimer.
