Payne Throws his Backing Behind Council in South Ward Runoff

At his event last night with U.S. Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, U.S. Rep. Donald Payne (D-10) issued his own ringing endorsement of Pat Council to be the next Newark South Ward councilman.

Council is engaged in the June 14th runoff election with Terrance Bankston.

“We have to finish what we started on May 14th,” Payne told the Newark crowd.

Council was elated.

“I think it’s great that the congressman understands the work that needs to be done in this ward,” said the South Ward council candidate. “It is incumbent on me to just be humble.”
