Phil and Tammy Murphy Report $4.6 Million in Adjusted 2016 Gross Income
The Murphy for Governor campaign today released Phil and Tammy Murphy’s 2016 tax returns, attached here: 2579_001. Also attached is a seven-year tax summary: 2577_001. In bfrief, the couple reported $4.6 million in adjusted gross income, $2.8 million in federal taxable income, and $1.5 million in paid federal and NJ taxes.
“We are releasing our tax returns over a month earlier than last year,” Murphy said. “New Jersey voters have a right to transparency and openness, and that’s how this campaign has operated since day one.”
“Given her newfound interest in transparency, I again call on Lieutenant Governor Guadagno to release the Division of Criminal Justice’s investigation report on her pension fraud abuses in Monmouth County,” Murphy added. “New Jersey voters have a right to read this report before election day.”
The Democratic candidate for governor pointed out that WNYC recently reported on Guadagno’s pension fraud scandal, saying, “The case was assigned to the Division of Criminal Justice, where Guadagno once served as a deputy director. Yet to this day, DCJ has refused to release its findings — not even to the pension board that asked for the investigation.”
The WNYC investigation concluded: “But if an independent prosecutor had been appointed six years ago, Guadagno might not be running for governor in the November election.”
“Lieutenant Governor Guadagno, New Jersey wants to know: will you release the Division of Criminal Justice’s investigation report?” Murphy asked.
