Pot Up or Shut Up: Coughlin Heads to Crunch Time on Marijuana Vote

No one’s really crazy about this, a source told InsiderNJ, as the assembly Democratic caucus heads toward an afternoon informational conference call on marijuana legalization organized led by Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19).
The vote’s Monday.
Couhglin just wants to hash out some semi-final thoughts.
Some hand-holding.
Some mild cajoling.
Some Coughlin-clarity imposed through the fog.
He’s there, or almost there.
Will be there, the source insisted.
No one’s going to have to get an arm twisted too hard for the caucus to reach 41, the source said.
“Organically, they’re at 38-39,” said a second source. “Not even aggressive twisting gets you to 45.”
No one’s jumping up and down for it, though, the source added.
Then there’s Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) across the hall.
South Jersey’s holding.
Senator Fred Madden (D-4) won’t buckle.
No chance.
LD1 gets a pass.
But Sweeney leans and it happens, the source said.
“It all comes down to Steve,” the second source said.
