10th Congressional District Candidate Jerry Walker urges NJT Board to pause fare hikes

Statement by Jerry Walker:

Mass Transit for our working and middle class families plays a key role in the 10th Congressional District. Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous train cancellations and delays by New Jersey Transit trains on the Amtrak Northeast Corridor line. Numerous commuters have been stranded having to find an alternative route due to these delays and cancellations. With the 15 percent fare hike taking place next week, I am calling on the NJ Transit Board to pause this hike until it’s commitment has been made to it’s customers fully. While I understand the budget concerns for NJ Transit, we must ensure our commuters have reliable service to their prospective destinations. For all of the communities in the 10th Congressional District with a train line, please know once I get to Washington this will be one of my top priorities.
