14 Downtown Progressive Committee People Endorse James Solomon

JERSEY CITY,  NJ –  Building on the momentum from yet another dominating debate performance, James Solomon announced today that 14 Downtown progressive committee people endorsed his reelection today. The endorsements follow a series of others who have joined in endorsing Solomon, including HTC, 32 BJ SEIU, small business owners, and leaders in the Harsimus Cove Community.

Endorsing committee people included:

E-3 Ayla Schermer and Gary Murphy

E-4 Nicole Waknine

E-6 Gary Spingarn

E-13 Eleana Little and Sarah Ordway

E-14 Amy Torres and Marc Devens

E-16 Mamta Singh and Daniel Cronin

E-17 Leda Duif

E-18 George Fernandez

James Solomon said: “This is a grassroots campaign and I am so honored to be endorsed by these progressive leaders as we fight to make downtown Jersey City a more affordable and better place to live. This election is less than two weeks away and I am looking forward to campaigning across this community and presenting my positive vision so that we can create an even better community.”

Gary Murphy E-13 Committee Person: “My neighbors in Ward E, District 3, have learned they can count on James Solomon to address their concerns—large or small.  Fixing a broken streetlight, installing a speed bump on the block, cutting through the red tape at City Hall to open a small business—James and his team get it done!  They have set a new standard for constituent services in Jersey City.  More than anything, though, we count on James for his commitment to addressing the affordability and sustainability challenges that threaten the Downtown we know and love!”

Marc Devens E-14 Committee Person: “James has repeatedly demonstrated that he is ready to fight for all members of our community, and especially the most vulnerable. He is the crucially important independent and progressive voice on our city council.”

Amy Torres E-14 Committee Person: “When people think about Jersey City, their perception was long warped by the glitz of renovated brownstones or high-rises downtown. But thanks to James Solomon’s leadership on the City Council, people now associate downtown with a strong progressive movement — one that holds runaway development accountable, fights against powerful special interests, and isn’t afraid to stand up for what our neighbors know is right. The inequities faced in Jersey City are structural, and when solutions don’t exist in Ward E, James is not afraid to reach city-wide, up to the county, or down to Trenton to fight for what’s right. That’s why I am proud to stand with James Solomon for re-election — fighting for James is a fight for families, for schools, and the place we call home.”

Julia Kaplan and Alex Ellis E-9 Committee People: “James has done an amazing job representing Ward E in his first term, and it is vital that he be reelected to continue to move Jersey City forward. We trust James to serve as an independent voice in the City Council and represent the interests of ALL Downtown residents.”
